Blog Hop Around the World

You can find me at my web site.  jomackenzie.com
and at my blog. Jomackenzie.blogspot.com My blog
And on Facebook at

I am so happy to have been invited to participate in the Bog Hop Around the World!

My friend and fellow watercolorist Carmella Tulliszewski honors me with this invitation.
Carmella is a terrific artist and don't let her last name intimidate you...book mark her and you will be glad you did.

I jokingly say watercolor is my first love...I write its name in all my notebooks and kiss it behind the school yard fence. I really do love it like a girl in love for the first time. I just want to learn as much as I can and paint everything.

Because I was a special educator for many years I learned to  break large tasks into smaller components. This helps a student gain mastery in small steps over time. When I left my job to paint full time. I wrote an Individualized educational plan for myself that developed into a core three step method working from darkest shapes to lightest washes

I turned that into my "little recipe book" called Three Step Watercolors. I also have posted a short video on my blog where you can see many examples while listening to my husbands hammered dulcimer playing.

If I am best known for anything it is my pet friend game.

Here is how you play....

HOW?

Send a photograph to jowatercolor@gmail.com

Where?

Everyday I paint and post a picture of a pet friend on my Facebook Fan page at Jo Mackenzie watercolors.

What?
Once a month a winner is picked at random to receive a free painting.

Why?

Because it is free and it is fun.

Here are the Collie/Sheltie friends I painted for Sept./2014

Now I am passing the baton to my good friend Kim Stenberg. Kim paints in both oils and watercolors and I am convinced that she can paint anything and everything. When someone contacts me and asks me to paint the impossible I suggest they contact Kim because I know she will be able to do it no matter what.

Kim will post next Monday the 13th and introduce us to artist's she knows and loves.

  1. A great post! Hey, by the way, I paint in oils (not acrylics) and watercolors.

    1. Thanks Kim...I just changed the text to reflect that you work in oils not acrylics. My mistake.
